Post [40k] LeGenerals Eldar and Blood Angels
Hi,

I would like to introduce some of my Eldar models I painted during the last years. I do have an army worth ~2000p in this colourscheme.

Oh, there was something about BloodAngels in the topic, so, yeah, there will be some BA here soon, for the moment it's just a test model.

Any comments welcome.

Cheers

What's the story with the BAs? Actually, this is all part of an army log which is available on a german forum only. To give you a short overview of the plans and the background:

One of the worlds in the galaxis which once belonged to the Eldar (called "Jungfernwelt" in German, I don't know the english word) was occupied by the Imperium. And this lead to the fight between a BA company and the Eldar. This story shall be told in this army log.

Things to do:

1. Finish some Eldar models (Harlequins, Stormguardians, Titan)
2. Maybe add some Eldar models (Nightspinner, Warpspiders etc.)
3. Build a BA army. First I thought I do my own Chapter, but than I decided to build parts of the second BA company supported from the 8th company and the Veteran company (and stuff from the armory etc.). But I gonna paint them as "Veterans of the Ileath campaign" (Ileath is the world/ system the Eldar and BA are fighting for) meaning they will have golden fringes on their shoulder pads, probably marmoreal shuolder pads with tourquoise signs and some extra insignia.
4. Do some games Eldar vs. Ba with increasing sizes (e.g. starting with 200p ending with Apocalypse). All of the games should have an impact on the following game, i.e. it's a mini campaign.
5. All this, pics of the models, background, the battles and some gimmicks (painting section, storys, scenarios etc.) should be written down in a small book.

I'll try and post some of the stuff here during the next months.

Cheers
General

love the eldar - especially the gold NMM - an army id never paint because i dont think i could do it justice.

Blood angels - I like the tactical marine - working on an army myself at the moment - nice - i like the 'worn' look he has and again the gold is excellent- My only thing with them is that I don't like the blue - i think green would compliment the red better but its only personal taste.

I love the depth of the purple, the gold, the freehand (especially the neat stuff on the Harlequins) and the shiny effects on the jetbikes.

It really is a superb army.

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad you like it.

@emrys: Yeah, I heard some discussion about the tourquoise, I actually really like it, but I gonna try the green on my next test mini.

In general, I gonna try a few different things on the BA scheme, e.g. blending colour yellow instead of white, gold nmm (I will most likely use nmm, just because the Eldar don't have real metal), different markings on the shoulder pads, basing variants etc.

The pics are nice.
It's even prettier in person.
I deal with my jealousy by smashing it with orks

To stop them looking too pink (using white) or orange (using yellow) I think the GW 'Eavy Metal painters are using bleached bone or some other light brown/cream colour to highlight red, should be worth a try.

Having painted 50 blood letters I can recommend over hightlighting them quite orange and then washing them with the new Ball Red Washes. They are great !!

Lovely Avatar, I want mine to be as dark to make the molten bronze stick out like it does on yours - great work!

Thanks for that, knotdragon.

I tried a few things with my BA during the last weeks and here are the preliminary results:

Still WIP and especially the battle damage will be different on the next models but you should get the general picture.

Didn't my exorcists kill that Avatar recently? ;)

Inspirational stuff leGeneral, if the blood angels are up the same standard as your Eldar, you should be picking up another best painted award soon.

Regarding the white highlights Mig recommends using pale yellow/cream instead (something to do with the diffusion of the light over the object). Basically what Kench1 said but from a different source.

Thanks for your comments, lads.

@Avatar: Yeah, that´s why I think, Exorzists ML should be declared as Melta Weapons...

And since you´re speaking about the tournament, I might as well share some pics I took during my games.

1st game against Blood Angels, Sangguard only. I had first turn and was easily able to wipe the opponent out, since Avatar, Firedragons, Harlequins and Wraithlord are just right to counter them.
Image

Unfortunately, that brought me to the top table, where some chics in armour waited for me. Have I ever mentioned Sisters of Battle sucks?
Image

At this stage I still thougt, I might have a chance to draw
Image

My last game was against Demons, and that was an intense one. The picture tells the story. Action from turn 1.
Image

And even though it was not as easy as in game 1 to wipe out the opponent, my combined fire and hand to hand power prevailed eventually.

2 massacres and ... ah, let´s not talk about the "and" ... secured me a 7th place out of 31 which made me quite happy. With the best painted price on top it was a very succesfull day. And I also had some fun :D . Thanks to all voting for my army and to my three opponents (plus apologies for whining about my "luck").

Last but not least 2 painting updates:

My first Sangguard, or at least most of the armour. The rest is almost finished, so look out for the next update.

i must admit that is by far the best interpretation I have seen of the Sang Guard to date.

Wonderful painting, Top notch heavy metal standard - I hope you will be going to warpcon as I would like to see them in the flesh and pick your brains on some of the techniques you use.

You're all talk Woodstock, you couldn't paint your way out of a paper bag.

The sanguard are really fantastic, I love the purple power weapons or whatever silly 40k weapon it is.
