The Last Chancers are a group of social gamers who enjoy playing most Games Workshop games but especially Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40k. Our club is based around Wicklow town with members from Wexford, Wicklow and Dublin. We meet on Thursday evenings from around 6pm in the Hobby Shack. We usually have 12-15 members on our gaming night, and have another couple of dozen more casual players who attend occasionally.
Our players are well-known on the tournament scene, both for running events and attending events too. Jarvis is well-known for running the WHFB events at Gaelcon and Warpcon, while Nigel (Brooklyn) runs the Skirmishes and the NWG tournament which is one of the highlights of the gaming calendar. We also run non-competitive events such as campaigns, inter-club challenges, Apocalypse games, painting tutorials, painting weekends and lots more.
We’ve played and run many events along with our friends in the Dublin Gamers Guild, the League of Bastards, the Limerick Dice Chuckers and Wargames Association Cork. Nigel runs the Wargaming Ireland site and forum, and runs an occasional podcast with Jarvis, Elliot, Paul and other guests too.
